Dea, O
V
M. says:
My Children,
Great is the joy when a being, inspired and enlightened by
wisdom and love, opens the doors of his or her intellectuality to pour into the heart of Humanity the beneficial effects of these virtues,
exalted by the true light of Wisdom and Love.
It is a true and indisputable fact that in order to ensure the
freedom and independence of his personality, the individual must draw all the necessary resources from the fullness of his reasoning
consciousness.
It is a true and indisputable fact that reason, enlightened by
Love, must always preside in the daily judgments that are caused by our actions or those of our fellow-persons or by the events that take place
around us.
It is also true that one who is free and independent must
avoid all impulsive actions that do not correspond to a prior work determined by his consciousness and his reason, but are only incited by his
latent activities.
Still, it is equally true that there are limits to an
individual's understanding, limits to the exercise of his reason, limits to the soundness of his judgments. It is true that every individual
expresses potentialities that are limited in relation to those of Nature and the Cosmos, and it is because of this that the independence and
freedom of human beings is limited.
Nevertheless, Man is constantly faced with great problems
regarding the Universe and Nature, and with problems that directly concern himself and Humanity.
The solution to these problems calls for an individual and
personal power far superior to that of Man, far more intense and freed from the fetters of the imperfection of human comprehension and
perception.
Now, Man's need to conquer the Universe and explore the
Absolute is innate in him. Yet he perceives that in order to satisfy this need, his own resources and potentialities alone are not sufficient.
Sensing the existence of Forces superior to his own, he appeals to them, accords his conscience with theirs and fearlessly applies himself to
the solution of all these great problems, which arise at every step along the course followed by humanity.
Whoever follows this path is an Elect (Chosen one).
Yet, before appealing to the Conscious Forces which rule over
him, before venturing on the path where alone he will face the silence which the great problems will present him with, before attaining the
state of being Elect, Man must be trained and armed with the powerful forces that he will draw from me, from the bosom of the Universal Mother,
from my Love.
These forces are not vague conceptions, moral or intellectual
vindications; these forces are not ideas; these forces are not limited to the form of the word they testify to. They are powerful currents,
currents of Love, which attract and strengthen the one who appeals to them; they are protective currents which my maternal love spreads over
its children, currents that are infused in those who have recognized me and have accepted me as the one who realizes their noble aspirations.
He who is armed with these forces, who possesses them not only
in his mind but also in his soul, he, I say, can then face the silence of these problems with the certainty of success. They will fill him with
satisfaction and at the same time allow him to regenerate a Humanity lost in the labyrinth of forces degraded by human actions.
These currents do not have any name, for Man has been able to
define only their manifestations.
You, my Children, who are gathered together to hear my
maternal voice, be blessed. Purified by my maternal benediction, receive this light of Love and of Wisdom.
May your heart know no hate, for then it will become a pure
vessel into which I can pour the philtre of my maternal love, so that you may become Elect, true children of a Mother who has conceived and
loved the salvation of Humanity.

Commentary on the Appeal of Dea, O
V
M
(by the M. C. of the Order Deon)
At first sight, this work may be incomprehensible or leave one
with a confused idea of what Maria, O
V
M
wished to express and say. Yet it is a well-known fact that all ideas emitted for the purpose of
uplifting the thoughts of Man to a superior plane are of necessity condensed into words that appear unintelligible. On deeper examination,
however, the various truths intended are brought to light.
This is also true for every manifestation of the mind. Let us
take music as an example.
Upon hearing some profound musical composition, you listen to
it at first as a whole, sometimes confusedly. By sustained attention, you gradually distinguish the modulations that charm your soul or mind.
Ideas have the same effect - they charm the mind. Now, we are
in the presence of a composition made of admirable and superior ideas, so condensed that I am frightened at the length that my commentary would
need if each paragraph were to be adequately commented upon.
Nevertheless let us take each paragraph separately. The first
lesson expresses very beautiful ideas. Let us see if they satisfy your hearts and minds.
"Great is the joy when a being "
As commentary to this, I can only express the state of my own
soul when surrounded by attentive Brothers and Sisters to hear my words.
I will satisfy your hearts and minds by pouring into them
something that could be Hope and Happiness, for we should gladly communicate our intimate happiness to our neighbour and should be altruistic
enough to hide everything that may cause them pain. To give happiness and laughter makes us happy too; to cause sadness, anger or melancholy
profits no one.
Man is a chord; his sounds are harmonious. As soon as one of
his actions makes him lose this harmony, he produces and receives a shock. Whenever he feels joy, he should communicate it to his neighbour
because happiness is rare. This is an act of great charity.
O
V
M
says: "It is a true and indisputable fact that
when the individual..."
This is not the first time you hear these words. Since you
joined the Order and since the very first teachings you received, you have heard that you must become free in order to develop your
personality. For how can one take any initiative in acts of charity as in all others if one is not free, independent and master of one's
actions? When our actions depend on any forces other than our own, they are no longer ours. Under the influence of someone who makes you act in
a way that is not in accord with your own reasoning, you will accomplish actions that are alien to your personality. Then, if your acts are
noble you should not pride yourself for them.
This advice does not refer to various duties and hierarchies
of the Order, for these reflect certain needs of the Order and the duties issued from them. All those who gather together in unity, do so out
of the need to do good and every need entails duties. United individuals must work according to each one's personal abilities.
Discipline has not been imposed on you; it is a duty that each
one of you has imposed on himself personally, in order to realize an aim that is dear to him. Therefore I do not refer to the state of things
in the Order, the nature of which is to help you advance. I refer to your secular life. There, you should be independent and your actions
should be influenced only by your own will. Every act accomplished otherwise does not come from you.
Maria, O
V
M
appeals to your moral, intellectual and
physical charity. She says: "It is a true and indisputable fact that reason, enlightened ..."
Here, O
V
Mother alludes to a social plague. Human beings
are always prone to lend a willing ear to everything that expresses evil or contrariness. It is true that in this sense humankind is subject to
a serious plague.
Talk evil of a person ... everyone listens to you; talk about
good ... they doubt your words. Do not believe that people are wicked; it is a question of effort. The concept of evil can be compared to a
descent, like the descent from a mountain. The ascent requires effort. I do not imply that you yourselves are prone to bending your ear to
evil. I am speaking in general terms. The concept of good requires much greater effort than the concept of evil.
When you read about a crime in the newspapers and try to
figure it out through the mystery it is covered in, your interest is greater than when you read a sacred book on which you have to ponder and
meditate. Few persons occupy themselves with that.
" ... reason, enlightened by Love must always preside in
our daily judgments ..."
Therefore our judgments must always be inspired by Love. I
shall go even further by saying: We must not judge at all. I have already set a question by which I have proved the inanity of human judgment.
I am going to set it to you as well. It touches on inferior matters but through it you will be able to understand how erroneous judgments can
be.
There are two beings bound by emotional ties; the woman is a
flirt, the man a bully. During an argument, the man strikes the woman; she leaves their home to wander in evil haunts.
If the subject were brought up at a small party of friends in
a sitting room, you would immediately give your opinion as to who is to blame. How inane judgments can be! I myself cannot tell you who is
right and who is wrong. You too should not seek to judge by reasoning that is not made with love. Always be indulgent.
"It is also true that one who is free and
independent...."
There, O
V
Mother touches on another human weakness, that of
impulsive actions. We are always ready to render homage to spontaneity of sentiments of kindness, but we must consider that some impulsive
actions make Man an evildoer.
You will have noticed that a person who is spontaneously
charitable is usually one with a temper. In The case mentioned above, This individual happened to obey impulsively an urge towards kindness and
not one towards anger. Do not judge superficially, but after consideration. Do not fear that this will hinder the free flight of your heart.
Yet do not be like the miser who avoids charity by saying, "Let him find a job". It is not the action of alms giving that counts. When you see
someone who humbles himself before you by extending his palm to you, you pay his humility. Never hesitate. This is not called charity; it is a
procedure: when someone extends his palm to you, he follows the procedure of presenting his humility to you.
"Still, it is equally true that there are limits..."
We have, in fact, said that every
individual should have one consideration, that of possessing faculties that obey to the pressure of reason guided by love. Yet when we speak of
freedom and independence, freedom begins with the right of existence of our own personality and ends with the beginning of the same right of
our fellow-persons. Otherwise it is not independence but injustice; it is a sacrilegious act, which strives to realize the absolute within the
relative.
Every individual should set limits to his personality. A
personality is limited when it is in accord with the individual's own faculties.
When you decide to displace a block of stone from above your
body, it is impossible that your forces will not fail you. When an individual wants to penetrate into problems for which his powers are
limited, he reaches a point almost touching insanity. Persons who have studied occult sciences, spiritualism, great doctors, etc., have
bordered on insanity. Take for example, seekers of spiritual things: if they try to go beyond the limits of their comprehension, they end up
saying as many different follies. They mean no harm: the individual in question has simply lost control of his functions and speaks to you of
prodigious things that seem natural to him because he has approached a limit beyond your reach, since his mental activities have been deranged
or alienated in relation to yours.
Do not deprive yourself of anything in cosmic life. Use
measure and limits. Your personality should be limited according to your powers of comprehension.
Nevertheless, Man is constantly faced with great
problems..."
Man finds himself in the presence of great questions but his
forces and his comprehension are a hindrance to him. How can he be expected to launch into a domain where his comprehension is deficient?
To satisfy an inherent need - the conquest of the Universe and
the search for the Absolute - Man finds that his own resources and potentialities do not suffice at all. He is obliged to appeal to Forces,
which he senses to be above him, and ask for their help. I shall give you an example.
You are in front of a wall that you wish to climb but it is
too high. You appeal to the natural forces around you and go and cut the branches of some trees. The top of the wall is no longer out of your
reach. We are surrounded by Nature, which offers all of its Natural Forces to our service. In the same way, with the help of psychical
Subconscious Forces as well as Conscious Ones, we can bring about realizations in these planes.
I draw your attention to the following sentence: "Whoever
follows this path is an Elect (Chosen One)".
When a person acting on the Material plane has reached
achievement by his own means, he is called a Master in his art. Those who have acted and worked in the psychical plane are called Magi, because
they have managed to produce works that have rendered them Masters in that plane. O
V Mother has given the particular title of Elect to the
one who has succeeded in grafting his comprehension with the Forces which he feels to be found above him.
